Commissions & Collaborations
Do you have a favourite lace knitting pattern that you’d like to have as a one of a kind print? Or perhaps a collection of antique textiles from your grandmother that are deteriorating and need a new life as a piece of artwork. I’d love to chat about your commission ideas. Or maybe you’d like to propose a collaboration? Connect at julie@rosvall.ca.
Sample Knitting
I have twenty years of experience knitting samples for knitwear designers, yarn shops and commercial dyers. Rates range from 25 cents to 35 cents per meter depending on complexity. I do not currently tech edit knitting patterns.
Studio Residencies & Workshops
If you are a printmaker, knitter, weaver, or spinner (or better yet a combination), and are interested in working in my studio, please contact me by email, julie@rosvall.ca to chat about the possibilities. Daily rates start at $30/day, bursaries and special project rates are available.
Upcoming workshops will be posted on Instagram and through my newsletter. If you don’t see anything coming up are interested in contracting me for beginner workshops in printmaking or textiles, please touch base. If you are a printmaker or textile artist who would like to lead a workshop, but don’t have the space, get in touch.

Event & Exhibition Curation
Through my work with Craft Nova Scotia, the Nova Scotia Printmakers, and my own artistic practice I have 30 years of experience planning and successfully creating large and small-scale cultural events. I’m happy to discuss your event, how I can help you bring it to life, and work with you on a project budget.
Community Engagement
Need a moderator for an online arts event? Or maybe you need an artist talk about textiles and printmaking? Working on an event that requires a peer assessment committee and looking for an experienced arts administrator on board? Hoping to feature an artist or craftsperson in an upcoming publication and need a writer who has experience engaging with the creative community? Please touch base about any consulting, jurying, writing or engagement opportunities at julie@rosvall.ca.
Rates & Fees
The CARFAC-RAAV Minimum Recommended Fee Schedule is widely recognized as the national standard for remuneration of visual and media artists in Canada. These payments include royalties for the exhibition and reproduction of an artist’s work, as well as various professional services fees.
You can see the 2023 recommended rates here, carfac-raav.ca/2023-en. I consult this fee schedule when estimating for services, and provide a fair quote for my time, material costs, and overhead.
